Made reservations & was seated promptly. Although the wait for a server took awhile once she started taking our order till we left; the service, our food from the appetizers to the meal was amazing. She was friendly, as well as the busser, other waitresses and the hosts. Made for a pleasant dining experience. Would highly recommend people pay a visit there.
MoreExcellent food, excellent service, and very lovely decorations at this quaint German restaurant in Kenosha Wisconsin. There were six of us late night on a Friday and the staff were friendly, accommodating and really made us feel right at home. We had their famous turkey schnitzel and their Skillet Reuben as well as a few other entrees. Our meals were large portions, high-quality German food and we are very happy with everything we ate at the House of Gerhard, I would recommend a couple could go here on a date night, or an entire family could come and eat here and get a sense of a real German experienced similar to Hofbrauhaus in Germany.
MoreWe ordered out tonight 2 petite filets and a queen outstanding
Authentic and delicious German food with friendly service staff in German dress . I will definitely go back for more.
MoreFood usually amazing and entre still was but server was so slow the food was dry from sitting under heat lamp. Very sad but will try again
MoreFrom the moment we walked in. to the time we left. Everything was perfect. The hostess found a way to accommodate us with out reservations on a zfriday night. Avantiwas our server. She was top notch in ability and personality. Everyone in the restaurant worked together to help all the customers. Obviously a welk trained team that gets aling and wants to help each other. The food is amazing as well as the atmosphere. 100% recommend a night of fine dining here.
MoreThe food was fantastic! I have never been a fan of liver pate, but when our waitress said it was their specialty I had to try it and even that was good. They did a great job taking care of us. Would definitely return.
MoreGreat food and the owners make you feel like family!
We took our family including three children out for New Years Eve. The service was great and the food was good, however the entire experienced was ruined with the table set up. It was apparent they added additional tables to accomodate more people. In doing this three of the seven chairs were pushed up against the table. We had to move the table so the kids could literally squeeze in. It was way too tight which ruined the evening.
MoreVery good German Food, very friendly wait staff
Ribs & sauerkraut needed a bit more seasoning. The prime rib was perfect. Hofbrau Dunkel was excellent. My guest had the radler. That's a chunk of liver in her soup. Service was excellent, and the waitresses look great in their dirndles.
MoreThe foyer is adorable. It feels like the sun room and your Aunt's house. The interior has that sweet, homey feel with a hint of supper club. The is bar feels especially vintage swanky, that makes you want to order an Old Fashion or a Tom Collins. The dining room has classic elegance that feels lost in time.
MoreBirthday dinner on the patio, shaded and very comfortable, felt safe as they had the tables social distanced apart, food was spectacular, not to mention the German beer. Try the Beef Rouladan!
MorePretty good German food (I think Grandma would have liked it, and she came over on the boat). My beef rouladen was solid, sides were as I remembered from Grandma's house. However, Dad said the bratwurst were dry. We arrived when they opened, and by the time we left the volume level had gone up considerably.
MoreMinus two stars because the food is so extremely OVERPRICED. I canβt get over how expensive the food is. $25+ for a piece of A pork chop...lol... crazy! Dime a dozen of German restaurants in the Midwest, and these guys are the most expensive for mediocre food.
MoreThis is the absolutely best fillet beef in the county. Great surroundings, superb dinning with great servers.
MoreThis place was packed the week before Valentine's Day and I almost needed a reservation to get a table. The decor is authentic German. The bar is good, and the food is excellent. It might seem a bit pricey, but you may very well have leftovers given how big the dishes are. I look forward to a return trip here.
MoreDinner was amazing. Everybody ordered different meals. I enjoyed a sweet Barramundi in White wine sauce, carrots and potato pancakes. They also serve cocktails, so I had a non-alcoholic strawberry margarita. I love it here. My husband liked the Beef Roulade with red cabbage. Tasty.
MoreThis is my wife's favorite restaurant, we come for most every special occasion. It's a little pricy, but you'll have a fantastic experience. Top notch German cuisine, great seafood.
MoreGreat and delicious food, I like the vibes the place has, and the staff members were very friendly. Will definitely come back in the future.
MoreThis is one of my very few five star reviews! Great from first to last. Made a reservation, remember those? Not "call ahead seating ", but a honest reservation and we were seated upon arrival. Great personal service. We have not had German food in quite some time and the food was very authentic.
MoreAwesome that's all I can say lunch dinner and old Brandy old fashioned great bar tender
MoreWe settled on Chicken Oscar and Duck. The hollandaise sauce was creamy and plentiful. The chicken was crunchy yet juicy. The potato was baked perfectly. The duck was delicious and full of flavor. Meals here reflect an incredible value. Bread, bean salad, liver pate, and soup or salad are offered in addition to the veggie and potato with your entree'.
MoreAmazing food, wonderful service.
Great food pleasant people wonderful dinning experience
The best prime rib I have ever had, every single time. Flavorful, tender and prepared perfectly. I always order the larger cut so I have plenty of leftovers. My wife loved their fish in a bag offering. Top notch service. Not inexpensive, but worth it.
MoreGreat atmosphere, service, and food. Kansas city strip never has failed me. Thanks for a great dinner night.
MoreHad a wurst platter for lunch.
I have always had a positive experience at House of Gerhard. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they are more than happy to accommodate vegetarian diets. They have amazing ice cream drinks and they know how to throw an amazing October fest! This will always be one of my favorite restaurants!
MoreAn exceptional German establishment. Highly recommend the diamond cut prime rib if you're a big eater. If not, the french onion soup and liver are a fine choice as well.
MoreVery cozy. Service was excellent. The meal was amazing! I love that the before meal food is perfectly timed so you don't feel rushed. I didn't realize that they also serves lunch. Although, I believe they have for a while now. A+ for Gerhard's!!
MoreUtterly perfectly beautiful. ππ
Staff was great. Sides were perfect. Prime rib was wonderful. Schnitzel was firmly meh. Nothing here is cheap, even the sauces and sides. But for the most part it is good.
MoreGreat food, consistently good service...best restaurant in Kenosha!
Wonderful food and excellent service. From the moment we walked in the door, my husband and I were made to feel welcome. Each staff member was gracious and hospitable to everyone. The food was delicious and plentiful. Our server, Lulu, was extremely attentive and made us feel special. This was our first visit, but we will definitely be back!
MoreWe made reservations but had to remind them twice we were still waiting. After 20 minutes we got a table but it took almost 15 minutes to get a menu. We finally got the menus and ordered, but my wife's order was overdone and the meat burnt on the edges. She had asked for it to be cooked medium. After her plate was brought back, and I was half done with my food, she agreed that it was much better. My fish was excellent. It just seems that the staff was not very well organized and whoever was in charge, did not delegate well.
MoreCame here for my birthday and the customer service was absolutely amazing. They were trying their very best to make the place comfortable while keeping people apart for distancing. Very attentive and clean. I appreciate the staff working during these hard times. Definitely would love to come back here!
MoreBest prime rib I have had In along time the desert was awesome also
House of Gerhard--great food, incredible service. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
MoreService was stellar. The German fishes we got were perfect.
Love this place. Kinda hard to get to now that we live in Tennessee
Excellent food, great choices and service beyond expectations. Safety very strict but still leaving patrons feel comfortable.
MoreThe chicken was crunchy yet juicy. The potato was baked perfectly. The duck was delicious and full of flavor. Meals here reflect an incredible value. Bread, bean salad, liver pate, and soup or salad are offered in addition to the veggie and potato with your entree'. Who could ask for more?! We rounded off our dinner with a Black Forest Cake and coffee.
MoreIf you want a dining experience that includes great service with great food, Gerhard checks both boxes. They bring out a couple of house made appies and soup or salad with the entrees as well. We didn't try the German food, although I've heard good things about it. A house special is the prime rib and it is extraordinary. Another in our dining party had the planked salmon with creamy Parmigian which was also great. Our other party member had the filet of beef which made three of three very good dishes. Service is attentive, prompt, and friendly, reminiscent of supper clubs and high end steak houses. This place is a good choice for a nice night out. I do think the red wine by the glass choices need refreshing, though. Not a Bordeaux style blend to be found (but they serve great beers on tap.)
MoreTerrific service, great food. Wonderful evening all around!!
My brother and I took my mother out for a nice dinner. We were not disappointed. We started off with a drink at the bar then we sat down for dinner. Started with a couple appetizer, escargot and oyster Rockefeller. We had the prime rib for our main course. Fantastic. Everything from the service to the food was absolutely fantastic. We will be back.
MoreI really enjoyed the food and customer service, great area next to my apartment. The staff members are always nice. I highly recommend this place.
MoreGreat German themed supper club. Food was delicious and served at a relaxed pace. Nice selection of German specialties, steaks, and seafood entrees to choose from.
MoreGreat food , atmosphere, and the staff is amazing !!!
My friend and I were visiting the area and found this truely amazing, cute German restaurant. We were reminiscing the whole time about our long gone, but not forgotten, beloved Oma and Opa. They would have enjoyed this restaurant it was so quaint and beautiful. The amazing food served with a delicious salad or soup. The waitress was friendly, enjoyable and knowledgeable. Every menu suggestion spot on. The warm grape wine and hot apple cidar were a big hit. We even took home a couple wine gift sets to enjoy for Christmas gift giving. The best part was the homemade Christmas cookie samples! Wow,really made me miss my Oma! Fantastic cookies! The homemade cookies are boxed and available for purchase. I may just have to go back just to get those! Thank you for the superb service and food. We will definitely tell all our friends and be back again soon.
